I think Simon really is rooting for David Cook... as am I. I actually think Simon is right most of the time... he just could be a little more polite! The point here, though, is that he knows that Cook's voice can handle Roberta Flack's amazing song. He knows that having David do that "male cover of a female song" thing works. And he knows it's a song you'd expect Archuleta to sing instead. It all adds up to another COOKin' moment. I think he will be on his game Tuesday night.

Hey sleepingbeauty... I just checked your profile (ok, so I'm a little nosey)... you've got great taste in music and movies! Many are my faves too... and since I'm 22 years older than you it feel valitaded that I'm still a little hip and not over the hill! (lol)
If you're into TV, past and present, check out the blog site I contribute to, flamingnose.blogspot.com. It's also on blogger.com so there's a link on my profile.

Hi Scott!
Thanks for your comments. Yes, Simon has said that he wants Cook to win, that he wanted to pick his song so that he could "push him in a different direction," and that he would listen to his music "on a personal level. :)

I will definitely check out your blog, and love that we have similar tastes!

My friend is saying that the producer's choice for David Cook is "American Woman." I'm looking into her source to see if this is rumor/speculation or a confirmed song choice.

I heard a rumnor that the producers may choose "Stairway to Heaven" or "Hotel Califronia" Any confirmations?

tkwagner - I heard the rumor about "Stairway to Heaven" but also that Led Zep won't release the rights so it's probably false. "American Woman" sounds like something the producers would pick for Cook but I don't have confirmation. And I hadn't heard the one about "Hotel California."

This just in:

The producer's choice for Archuleta is:

“Longer” by Dan Fogelberg

Never heard of it.

"Longer" was a pretty big pop hit in the very late 70s or maybe around 1980, when I was in college. It's a very soft rock ballad. You might recognize it if you hear it. I always kind of liked it but it got a little overplayed when it came out and I tired of it for a while. It's kind of Carpenters-ish, but folksier. I'm affraid that, while Archie will hit every note and run as he usually does... that he will hit every note and run AS HE USUALLY DOES! Not my thing.
